it seems as if uber is on the right track.
the talent pool here is growing and browsing galleries is actually worthwhile... the populous seems to be much more connected to the real world where people actually make a living off of their craft instead of simply collecting pageviews. this is a good thing.
some art communities, namely one that has been burned from my memory for all of eternity, was a black hole for talent... and as i would go elsewhere for inspiration the thought, "gee i bet 99% of people on a certain art community would flip the page-not think twice about these images." would always cross my mind. i'm hoping things here are different...
i hope more photojournalists are attracted to this place, and i hope uber starts to curtail features on the site to showcase professional looking slideshows/multimedia pieces, and facilitate constructive debate.. i'd love to see some kind of portfolio review feature, promoted gallery exhibitions, and more sponsored contests (sans the overwhelming generosity of chris weeks).
for those who have recently become contacts, i hope you enjoy my work.. but i also invite you to challenge my work in hopes that maybe.. just maybe.. your words will push me in a new direction.
hope you're all wel,
.m
